Hitomi Gilliam
Hitomi Gilliam is a noted Canadian floral designer, lecturer, instructor and an author specializing in contemporary abstract styles.
She is a mega-star in the world of floral design, a member of The American Institute of Floral Designers and lives in Mission, Canada.
Hitomi is also a member of the Pennsylvania floral Industry Association and gives many demonstrations of floral arrangement events in art museums.
Her nature of work
Hitomi spends her time by giving lectures and doing installations at prestigious functions in other countries.
Hitomi's open, easygoing approach to teaching has kept her students enthralled and she has inspired many through her educational dedication and her many floral Design Books
Hitomi operates Satsuki's Design Solutions in Mission, British Columbia, Canada.
Her Achievements
In the U.S. and Europe, she gets a standing ovation from crowds of 3,000 when she gives demonstrations in theatres and arenas.
Hitomi is only one of the five recipients of the American Institute oF Floral Designer's (AIFD) prestigious Design Influence Awards.
Her recent design floral demonstration was in Seattle at the Northwest Wholesale Florist warehouse on April 10th, 2007.
Hitomi made arrangements at Queen Elizabeth Park when the IOC [International Olympics Committee] came to town.
The first week of June,2007 she created an artistic interpretation of Impressionist artist Claude Monet's garden at Giverny
for the grand gala that launches the Monet to Dali exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Her Books
Hitomi's love of art and nature influences her floral designs.She has published four books.
ARTFLOR—Advanced Design + Process: In 'Artflor' Hitomi shared with us her insight and experience with creativity and design.
Since its publication this book is being regarded as the blueprint of advance floral design and referred by students and teachers alike.
